its a manhua, as for the recommendation. idk how far you are with the story. but as someone who has read it to the latest current chapter, i personally would not recommend it. the beginning is fking lovely, then the middle part is confusing and last 200 or so chapters have been nothing but a shit show there is soooooooooooooooooooooooo much information in each chapter that you get a headache and need to take a break every few chapters. this comes from someone who loves the story btw.

uhm let me think on how to explain that. think of it like this, you can directly give someone dying of thirst water or you can build a well for them. option 1 is directly doing it, option 2 is indirectly doing it.
the sect doesnt allow you to directly do it, but indirectly doing it they dont give a shit about. so if you hurt/kill a child then you will die by their hands, but if you for example kill the parents of a child and kidnap the child then they dont really care about it, even though you hurt the child psychologically.

as for every sect leader being former kidnapped child we do not know for sure, that is just their unconfirmed theory. it could very well be that he tried to save his parents but was too late so he just saved the kid. but like i said we dont know the full details so we cant really make a based judgement on it yet. the forcefully joining the sect is true though. but you could argue that fact about all the sects just/unjust/evil/demonic/blood w/e else sect there is they deploy the same tactics of recruitments. like the just sects like mount hua take in orphans, the beggar sects take in orphans and thieves in the streets, the heavenly demon sects kidnap childeren from villages. so they essentially all do the same thing its just how they go about it that is different, some might force you, while others lure you with words, and others just lure you with rewards.
