Same with all the teaching methods used in this story. They are very well thought out and grounded in actual teaching theory. In fact, it was so convincing that I googled the author to see if she was once a teacher.

I imagine that learning about medicine in and of itself is not the problem. The problem is, what people who know both magic and medicine might try to do if put in a situation where forbidden magic becomes their only option? Something like necromancy, I imagine.

Right now, Tartar can't imagine himself in such a desperate scenario, but I think the sages have a point, despite how innocent it might be at first. To hinder something gruesome. Sometimes ridiculous measures are used.

Taking a moment to embrace this magnificent display of artistic magic.

Oh wow a expected "sad" comment to remind us that you have been hating on Agethe for 100% of this manga so far. Other than your comments, I love this comment section.

Look at it the other way around. If they were not hiding anything, it would be boring. All witches hold secrets. People in power even more so.

I don't get it... Why go through all this trouble when she would eventually have to use forbidden magic to reverse the spell on her mother anyway?

This series has started to confuse me. The world and story are super interesting, dark and rooted in logic. Yet the characters' actions and dialogue are not particularly interesting and mostly adhere to simple, one-sided, and stereotypical tropes. The story is engaging, but the dialogue sometimes pulls me out of the immersion. I'm hoping it changes later on, but I get the vibe this story is meant for a younger audience. Not that adults cannot enjoy this, but for now, it feels more akin to Harry Potter than Star Wars, and that was not the vibe I got from the first chapter, so it confuses me.

Yes. But there is a difference between sending someone into danger prepared and unprepared. It is also the fact that she wished for her failure.

Sending someone into danger, knowing they could die, is NOT the same as throwing tantrums. Both show a lack of proper parenting, but one clearly goes beyond mere antics. One is childish, the other is a pure lack of regard for other human beings. In most cases, I would say that opinion matters, but your opinion sucks. I'm sorry, but you are wrong sir.

Some people live every day like it's their last, for good or bad.

Could it be to hide the scars of the war? Evidence of the war? Must say, they went a great distance to monopolise magic. Makes you wonder if there's a better solution.

Imagine you just came home from a war where you learned how people use AI to kill each other. Then you suddenly see signs that people might harm each other with AI at home. If you had the chance to stop another war from breaking out by erasing their memory of AI. Would you do it?

They stopped a war. This is their way of maintaining peace, and for what we know. It works. A world where everyone is wielding magic and helping each other is just a dream. With great power comes... You know the rest. Try to see it from their perspective, even though they are portrayed as the bad guys. They might truly be horrible people, but that has nothing to do with wiping memories.

I've seen these: "Quick! Come help us!" too often, and someone always ends up dead. They are a bad omen!

Realistically, it's realistic to think that this isn't realistic at all and follows different rules than reality. But who am I, realistically, to say...?

I see what you are saying. However, the world is completely different, so let's hope it will take a different spin storywise as well.
