Meanwhile, the translators have dropped the, Pi, and are just calling him, Woo Jin.
For those of you who don't know, Chinese action star, Jackie Wu, is called, Wu Jin, in Asia. Again: an accident or a nod?
Meanwhile, where the fuck is this set for the villagers to be so scummy?
Somebody nuke that place, please!
No matter how much I pay attention, dudes with similar names always throws me.
It's still pretty fucking annoying though.
So, while I can understand the translator's disdain for those who can't follow the plot, I'm reading this as a completed work, and even I only remember a couple of names!
Actually, is it, Kim Shin and Po Win Joo or... oh, I scrolled up and It's, Pi Woo Jin!
Well, I just remembered PWJ...
Other than that, the blonde dude and the one with scars on his face are easy to recognise, but all others: I have to rely on English names, like, Python, or see who else is in the scene to know that it's the chick from the junkyard and not some random. The yakuza are obvious too, because they're clearly different from the Korean gangsters (plus, Mori, is easy to remember).
It's cool that the translators kept the original Korean names, but, get a fucking clue! When the opening arc introduces 2 or 3 new people every episode and it lasts over 20 friggin' chapters, catering for your readers a little and calling a couple of people, John, or, Bob, may have made everyone's lives easier!
Shit, I've seen a ton of Korean films and TV series, but I don't remember 2 people's fucking names after 25 years of watching!
I'm not saying that, Weak Hero, did the right thing by calling a lot of the cast English-sounding names (Donald Na, for instance), but it certainly helped remembering the roster of characters, which, in turn, vastly improved the read.
So, is the translator right to e frustrated by western readers unable to remember who's fucking who in this epic list of characters?
I guess it's your choice to make.

P.S. the translator notes are really fucking annoying at times.
