he was her teacher. he taught her all about tempering. and assuming once he did that he decided to give her one of his essences. evidently ending his own life in the process. thats why neither he nor anyone else told her what would happen to him once it was completed.

from our perspective sure, its a confusing decision that doesnt make alot of sense. but from his perspective, a very strong transmigrator has arrived. he has left everyone he has known/loved forceable in another world, so he has no one to lean on. it makes sense that the guy didnt know about the grandfather, be it if he exists (alive/dead), if he's in the same world (not likely since transmigrated), let alone being strong enough to make much of a difference.

its all about thinking about it from anothers perspective to gain an understanding of the reason behind their decisions.

ive seen it quite a few times by now. and still have no idea where its from/who it is that drew that.

was planning to drop this if it didnt get any 'better' soon, since this has gotten rather stagnant and predictable. but from the sounds of your words, youve already read and know the progression of the story and that it is infact much better than this, later on.
i shall keep reading for now, waiting for the next arc/final arc to arrive.
