It's not the difficulty of the trial per se that i'm referring to, it's the fact that a floor ago the mc struggled to overpower the nun bitch in a pure weapon fight despite having his preferred weapon available.
If he couldn't beat her how could he easily beat masters with weapons he never used before. It's shown that he didn't overpower them purely through better stats, he outmanoeuvred them through technique and skill.
MC is supposed to have no experience nor technique with unused weapons but he instead has extensive knowledge about gates and players and good technique with a sword ( a weapon he trained seven years with and even created a new martial art in). He should have won his fight with the nun easily and struggled with the trial not the other way around.

Considering how bad MC did in the last floor when his divinity was sealed, they should have made him struggle in this challenge for consistency's sake if anything else

Fatass really fucked himself over in this situation. The moment he started mentioning strength he put himself in a corner because his whole argument was resting on it. No matter how he tries to move now he'll be the one to look the worse at the end of it. I think the position the kid put herself in is the most controversial though because, while a controlled response seems normal to us, the people of this world only ever saw extremes in their lifetime with Utriti building a chaotic and violent society by bluring the moral lines between the two superpowered factions by pushing negative actions on the Heroes and Raosa going the complete opposite way by trying to rehabilitate the villains without considering the potential danger they might eventually pose again, even bunny girl is of that opinion so until Middle Scholler showed up the voters had a choice between two choices they've already known to turn out badly. The people voting haven't known any form of middle ground in their leadership throughout their lifetime and it shows since the moment Middle Schooler girl explains herself they all look surprised af.

You really haven't though. No one in Valhalla or the rest of the world actually has. So far he's ended every public duel he had without taking any damage and in three moves or less. He's taken down every squad of Chronos' shadows that came after him and his entourage. From Valhalla's perspective the only info they have on Roman is that he is fast and, considering he was accompanied by soldiers when attacked by shadows, you can deduce that, at the minimum, he's a brilliant tactician. Overall they know absolutely nothing about his weaknesses and almost nothing of his strengths.
