how dare they restrict basic information for the sake of showing her character over her fantasy powers.

honestly i think you literally missed the entire point of the story.

the point of the story is about the characters and growth not the "oooh big fight scwene"

The lack of backstory for pre-time skip is a tool to invest you in the present.

BECAUSE The goal is to move on from the past and the first step of that from an authors perspective is to separate them strongly and slowly reintroduce them over time.

plus we already get the overdose on trauma and are able to emphasize with the character even without bring up characters that matter literally none to the early story since it was so long ago.

sorry if this seems passive agressive but honestly the lack of empathy your able to give to engage with the story seems like a you thing.
