This manga is trying to do two genres at once. It's an interesting story but the pacing is a bit off. The MC is living a "slow life" but his so called "slow life" is causing OP harem protagonist levels of problems for the nearby evil country.

All he did is pop the bumps from the disease on the cows and then poke people who hadn't gotten sick yet with the fluid that was in the bumps on the cow's udders. The human body then uses what it learns from the weak version of the disease from the cow to make antibodies to prevent full blown small pox.
