Currently he is doing a speedrun with max handicap. He still has a mental trauma from the old man torturing him and his shitty childhood, but no way to recover or balance him out. In any other story he would get an emotional support pet by now to mellow him out a bit (ranker's return, solo max newbie, overgeared or even Regressor Instruction Manual). I don't see that here. The general strategist could have been a great mother figure, but there is simply to much burned earth between them ... and she is dead. The FL in this time-line also doesn't have enough power to become his partner. As much as I like the current child mc, I don't see the story going anywhere.
