I don't think he got redeemed. Midoriya tried to redeem him, but Shigaraki's lines say "I know I'm beyond redemption."
Redemption required him to survive the battle. The author tried to make readers sympathize with him though. And that was around ever since Midoriya spoke of "Saving" him.
