As the manga explained in early chapter 5, magic is from the land of illusions; you open a tunnel to receive that power.
Illusions are effectively demons/devils and you can contract an illusion and gain a "theme" - also called "unfairness." All things come with a cost and this cost is called "karma."
Note: Magic is "unfair" - hence themes are also known as "unfairness"

Ruka's theme was that of a puppeteering magic, but her karma was anthropophobia - hence why she is constantly and miserably lonely.

Mr. Main Character's karma was being locked to basic beginner magic, but his theme is extension.
Thing is, costs tend to be balanced by what you gain. If you buy a $1 sandwich, then it's probably a bad sandwich. If you spend $20 on a sandwich, then it's probably a great sandwich.
And Mr. Main Character giving up his intermediate and advanced magic is like spending $2,000 on a sandwich -> and the result? One of a kind sandwich.

The only reason he was abused is because of his age. He was working hard and being abused and cheated for 5 years. He's 19. This means he fell into this situation when he was 14. The people who abused him are scum of the earth and deserve everything that happened to them, and more.

Listen, even if the plot originated from someone else, and that person conspired to get Mr. Main Character's account away from him -> and used Sun Xian as a tool by putting the idea into his head, this does not mean that Sun Xian is an innocent bystander. He is guilty and deserves no sympathy.

Sun Xian is a moron who only cared about the One Autumn Leaf character. Instead of playing the game and making his own character, he plotted to take Mr. Main Character's and frankly, he deserves no sympathy; none of Excellent Era do.

I hope the character card thing for One Autumn Leaf either gets destroyed or gets returned -> or anything, as long as it doesn't stay in the stinking hands of Sun Xian.

I feel like the concept of levels has become irrelevant and what's happening is just what the author wants.

LONG STORY?!

Spoilers about Kraugel and Grid in terms of the ranking leaderboards:
1) Grid will get to number 1 and become the pioneer (the title given to number 1 on the rankings)
2) Being the pioneer, a new quest pops up and it introduces a whole host of new and very important characters
and now we jump like... 1000 chapters in the novel -> 3) Grid leaves the rankings and joins that "whole host of very important characters" -> leaving the number 1 spot empty for someone else
4) that character will obviously be Kraugel

oh, and fun fact: 5) leaving the rankings = people don't know your level -> so when Grid gets past level 1000, no really, everyone else is like level 600ish -> barely anyone knew how strong he was
