Akane directly attacked the kaii which was a blaze type. I think that when the kaii was killed, the magic sustaining the fire like an accelerant also disappeared. The barrier acted as containment for each blaze, meaning the fire continued to burn in the same area without spreading, meaning any fuel (building material) was used up thoroughly. Without accelerant and the environment literally too burned to spread, once the kaii's magic ceased, so did the fire.

Iirc, Sumika already knows about his crush on her alt-persona, since it was revealed during the cafe "date" they had together. However, Sumika irl is soft-spoken and has some esteem issues therefore not being assertive in the relationship between her and Kotaro.
