Eh, id say it depends on the mood. To liken it to food, the generic shit is like an old favorite, or a comfort meal. It's always the same food, just cooked by different chefs. Whereas the weird shit is like trying some new flavor or dish that you never had before.

Sometimes it'll be delicious and become a new favorite. Other times it'll be disgusting and you'll never want to eat it again. And there will also be the mediocre ones that you'll only come back to when you get a craving for that particular flavor.

On the other hand, the comfort meal will always be pretty good without being anything amazing. You can depend on it for its mediocrity. It'll never be as amazing as that one dish you tried and loved, but it's also pretty hard to fuck up making and so will rarely ever be actually bad.

In the end it all falls back to what you're in the mood for.
