IMO the leveling system has caused people to give out less upvotes. It's costs 3 points to upvote someone (down from the 5 points when the upvote system first came out), but it still drains your points, and to level up you need all the points you can get.

This becomes even more prominent the higher the upvoter's level is, since the percentage for a successful level up goes down, so they need to have double or triple the usual amount of points just in case. Since the leveling system has been out for around 2 months, most of regulars here are already around a significantly high level.

I remember that most of comments would get at least one upvote, and my more popular ones several dozen, but now the upvotes are like a trickle compared to before.
