I think you confuse the actions of a country or a community with the belief of the religion. Oppression of women, or any human, is highly punishable, you are most likely referring to iran with their enforcement of hijab on women, which is wrong. No human is to be forced into anything, as it is against islam, however like I said extremist do not care or are ignorant of their own religion. Most islamic countries do not follow islam properly either, there has yet to be any large community of people that do in this era. No community is able to follow their set of morals properly, including the catholics you mentioned.

As for the violence and executions in the quran, I am not sure what you are referring to. However, we do have executions as a form of punishment, of course the severity of punishment corresponds to the severity of the sin and this is again where morality comes in. Those who believe in God do not question this decision whereas those who don't believe in God will of course will question it. For you to believe in a religion's morals, you must first have proper faith in it, which comes from researching and exploring the religion.

As a muslim, i will naturally said Islam. Of course will be bias however I believe even objectively i can make a point. In terms of morals, the code of conduct i would say is quite just and righteous. Many will start mentioning pedophilia, killings and brutal violence however many of these attributed acts and laws are actually based on extremism or have been taken at face value, every action has a genuine reasoning behind if researched properly, its just that it is often presented in the wrong context in todays media. Secondly in terms of misinterpretation and mistranslation, the quran is actually been the most consistent, if you look at the quran from several hundred years ago you will see it matches todays, furthermore the language it is in has stayed the same as it was revealed.

Of course you can follow christianity as well, it does present a decent set of morals to follow. I am not sure about other religions.

how can one impose punishment to others for doing bad then? A murderer can justify his actions if morality is allowed to be subjective and you would have no right to punish them.
