I think the name hurts it a little too (I guess that's part of promotion) I constantly used to think this was a different series I didn't really like that much until I started reading the chapter.

Those stats don't make sense at all.

If he has gained the Doubling effect of the rune that would mean his strength was 187 and his int was 307 before the change, and that's not 10 points difference...
If the balance rune isn't in effect yet, he is going to need to earn like 560ish points to activate it...

Is it the "This only applies to stats that have been earned with points" and it's counting ALL the points that he has earned in his regressions? (though the amounts should be more balanced if that was the case as the 10 points difference should still be in effect)

I can't point you to them because it's been a while, but some stories actually have a proper explanation for why they aren't attacked while transforming.
