i agree with you, but i think its important to have the audiance have someone they can hate. so that when mc faces him and injures/kills him the audiance will be estatic. just look at jeffory from game of thrones, everyone hated him till the moment he died, anytime he appeared and did something audiance would be riled up. perfect character right there.
