A ridiculously good hidden gem.
I came across this title a couple of years ago but the description was so muddled, I took it as a sign of the translation quality and passed by it. The comments also offered nothing aside from digs at the translation and negative views, convincing me I was doing the right thing.
I'm not sure what made me eventually start this, but I took the chance and, with the artwork being pretty sub-par - aside from the odd moment of love (like this panel: https://i.postimg.cc/RZJNfwLN/i.jpg) - and the slow start, I wasn't too impressed.
But, damn, I'm glad I saw the potential and stuck with this!
This story is multi-layered and one of the most rewarding reads you'll have.
An old woman with dementia turns up at the abandoned house a family of children are struggling to survive in, gifting them love, hope, morality, protection and, of course, martial arts.
The story follows the children as they grow until, one day, their "grandmother" remembers who she is, her role in the world, and sets off to complete her unfinished business. Sadly, her mind confused, she forgets most others things in the process, while the eldest, the MC, leaves to find her. This opens the door to a wuxia-style coming-of-age drama, set against the backdrop of a good versus evil war about to unfold and men so powerful, that they literally are on the verge of transcending to Heaven.
As I wrote: this is multi-layered... but it also kicks arse, hits a range of emotions a simple "kung fu" comic has no rights to even get close to, and teaches a powerful lesson in the process.
I could write more about the greatness of this title but it's best to go into this and just enjoy the ride. The artwork remains a bit goofy throughout, but it definitely improves, and even has some truly magnificent panels: https://i.postimg.cc/dtZzM9Rs/i.jpg

This meme by the translator team really sums up the MC's journey: https://i.postimg.cc/hjS1sKsz/i.jpg
Do not miss this.
Demon dude, you planted a turd
I've read it all so many times... but it finally makes sense!

I'm sure you all know the speech.

The final boss not being able to count really lowered his threat level:https://i.postimg.cc/QCk5hKrZ/i.jpg
QC really spelled it out for us, didn't he?
Why do translation teams always assume readers are stupid?
Didn't that dude get cut in half by the MC a few chapters ago?
