This comic has both high acclaim and deep loathing... so why not try it out? Sadly though, for me, it came across as childish (and, yes, I know it's aimed at teenagers), uninspiring and pretty dumb - I mean: in the 1st challenge, half the competitors need to die, so they all go around killing each other, but later on, they're all friendly and no-one seems to get hurt more than having to rest a couple of days! It's like a girl promising you anal but then she takes it out of her mouth, gives you a bar of chocolate and tells you to finish yourself!
Apologies for the awful format of the text - since disqus got removed, so has paragraphing! Hence, a short comment.
@botThis new comment section is SH*T! It reformats automatically, removing all paragraphs and makes comments look like muddled up messes. Please fix this ASAP!
A story about past sins coming back to haunt, this starts off well enough, builds up all the characters nicely, but then comes across as rushed, unclear and kind of silly. The fights annoyed me because I could see what was supposed to be portrayed, but they were all badly executed. There were a few story moments that felt like cliches or just childish - albeit, to some degree, perhaps thet was the point? - and the end is a bit of a, WTF? How...? but this definitely had the potential to be so much better.
I'm unfamiliar with the author, so more of his/her work would be nice, to see how the art form of storytelling grows; the ideas are certainly there!
Perhaps I should put a spoiler on that because, going by the last panel, they have the same nose.
Ernie's a piece of sh*t arms dealer and MC's in this entire situation because he tried - and failed - to kill a child he could've, at his skill level, simply disarmed.
I'm enjoying the read, but I've no sympathy for anti-heroes, only their innocent families.
