It's what would happen in most western (US of A, Europe, Canada) movies. It would be a chaste hug, or maybe a hand on the shoulder and of course it would be a mixed signal.

This was almost the world for hunter gatherers, they had no real understanding of the world but they could see patterns and go back to areas where certain fruits or animals would appear. But until they developed language and storytelling they pretty much lost all knowledge at the end of each generation.
