I think it might have been more like a shield block where you push back and damage the opponent with the shield or with the reflection of the force they sent to you.

The dowry is supposed to come from the brides family, now some cultures do have a bride price you have to pay so maybe that's what they were talking about, but it looked more like a wedding present to me.

I'll never understand why they don't change yen to dollars in English translations. I mean, what the MC is doing is figuring out what it is worth in his original world, and since it's not in Japanese why not translate the money as well...

I really wish the translation had accurately shown what the MC said, none of the words shown are anything to write home about...
