The reason its not inefficiency is because, as Ive said, hes controlling the state of the ball of mana with his will. He is literally telling the ball that when its compressed its now in a natural and stable state. Think of it like if you could turn off radioactive decay of uranium by willing it into stability at the same molecular weight that normal uranium would be continuing to decay at.
Essentially you are ignoring the intent and will portion of this attack. Also, yeah, he doesnt care about allies lol hes a solo player in hell difficulty. Even the girls he had to "protect" in one of the previous rounds 100% died to his attack despite being at least several kilometers away (abubu revived them).
Ultimately the attack is stronger than a simple nuclear explosion when taking into account the compressed sword energy. The lack of dispersion of force makes it multiple magnitudes more deadly.
Because he can compress his mana and form it into "sword energy" the penetrative capability magnifies significantly. Its the difference between a normal explosion and a shape charge you control at will, not transferring any of its energy outward as excess heat or dispersion of kinetic force.
Maintaining the compression also doesnt use as much energy as you would imagine, because he is literally willing his technique to maintain its state as if it were naturally like that (thats why intent driven energy is so op imo). Originally the technique was out of control at that point of spinning, but he managed to "own" it, which is also why it doesnt instantly kill him when he uses it too.
Combine the kinetic energy of a fision bomb with thousands upon thousands of strands (if not millions) of intent driven sword energy and give it enough rotational acceleration shoot out at the speed of light upon command. Now you have a fantasy weapon that turns continents into cubes, instead of 'just' glassing a small portion of the surface, ejecting most of the actual energy outward towards space due to redirection during ablation.
This feels like the author just wants "cool thing happens" so he creates situations the MC wins over without actually thinking about how that looks in the story universe. All logic gets thrown out for a "cool thing" happening.
I feel like this game would be amazing for psychological disease therapy, but its literally not doing that, almost on purpose. Only if you meet a literal god class character or go on a legendary class quest will you actually get proper therapy.
