In my opinion it's more important to find solutions that make a society more efficient and clean and the rest will follow on the environmental impact. Improved roadways so you don't have to travel 30 miles instead of 5 miles. Train, bike, bus options can help poor people make a better living so they have more time to give a fuck about the environment instead of where their next meal will be, etc. And just because acid rain isn't reported on the new's it doesn't mean it never existed or isn't a problem anymore...maybe the people who have a direct cause in these situations also pay for the news articles not to go out.
