They might not be necromancers, considering they're using dogs and bows instead of magic. They could simply use a paralyzing curse and be done with it, but they're using worse methods.

I like it in small doses. Things like "Above Ten Thousand" makes it become boring to me because it's just a repeat of "oh they did the thing, and he did the thing" over and over. This is a tasteful level and varied.
