He's an incel. His reaction to his childhood friend dating someone is really as bad as it gets. And I'm certain it's gonna be something like "she was just trying to make him jealous" or whatever but it's not like it really matters here. avoiding a childhood friend you used to hang out with because they're dating someone is awful behaviour. It screams "she should have chosen me".

Between trying to justify the protagonist's disgust while also making the girls characters you can like, it end up coming off as the protagonist being the absolute worst. Just from this chapter, he had one of the worst possible reactions to learning that his childhood friend was dating someone, and misinterprets good intentions then behaves poorly with the person in question

their relationship is fun but I'm way more interersted in the game ngl. Based on what we know for now, it seems really tragic, something like Lycia dying in Len's arm. Len being the antagonist was actually never confirmed and more of a theory (further evidenced by the new Len not knowing about the original's skill) so I'm guessing him being a villain in the game was a fake-out and he was gonna be an ally later

but then how would they know that he killed himself with poison? It's obviously going for "you thought he was a big deal? The true villains forced him to kill himself because saving him was too much of an hassle!"
