Some stories start with a flashforward, but that's only to hype up the reader, youre still supposed to write the story from a good start. Starting so far into the story causes a lot of problems down the line. The police force was introduced awfully because of it and are just used like they're developed elements of the verse, which they aren't. This can be said about most elements of the story.
The author knows he isn't great, that's why he rushed as fast as he could to the most interesting part of his manga, but that's by no mean a good thing. Even the fight between the police force and Sojo was rushed to give us chihiro vs sojo earlier, that's not good at all. At this pace, most of the manga will just be the fights between Chihiro and the other sword users, with a bunch of 2 page flashbacks and interludes

don't let the meme fool you. It's terribly mid. Your brain just wants to think it's good. There's no story structure and the characters are molded real-time to fit the events, that's enough to stop it from being "great"

This is like my 4th of 5th reread and I just thought of how great it would be if they overlapped the roles of xun er and na-lan. It would enhance the points both of the characters are supposed to make. Xun Er is supposed to help show off xiao yan kindness, but also with them being basically siblings it feels really cheap unlike what it would be like with a fiancee who should barely know him, while Na-Lan role is to enhance the idea that Xiao Yan is currently useless, which would be enhanced if everyone around her was trying to break off the engagement while she defends him. It would also greatly enhance the first part of the story since instead of xiao yan fighting to... be the one to break the marriage proposal? He would be fighting to maintain it and stay with a loved one
