It can turn out that Ego is just selfish and only wants HIS vision to work. If he subs out Karasu, as a coach, it's simply a bad move but for Blue Lock it might be a huge improvement on the long run. I can't see him sub Isagi out honestly, a striker (best player) having a bad doesn't deserve to be subbed out so fast, in fact Ego should see if Isagi is fit to make his dream concrete after this game. Isagi will either decide to keep the blue lock mentality or he will accept defeat OR he creates something new, honestly the addition of Hugo in the story gave so many possibilities. The author already asked us fans how we'd feel if Isagi betrays blue lock I believe and we all agree we'd still love him (personally i will) so what comes from here on is very important for the story

So the mentality of being n°2 is just not it that's why Isagi is so conflicted CAUSE we've seen isagi pass the ball and make the assist when he can't score yet Ego never went to him about that nor do we see Ego being mad at Hiori for being a passer rather than striker cause Hiori is striving to be the best at what he's doing not just n°2 hence why he would pass to whoever he sees fit not just one person (and he also can shoot if he's open) what karasu just did was completely strive to be on the second plan, he could have taken the shot btw but he didn't and instead chose to "sacrifice" himself but that's against the mentality Ego wants to foster

To be absolutely fair, if he fought Sukuna i highly doubt he'd need anything other than his base attacks cuz they are too fast and devastating for anyone that's not protected by a barrier (Gojo got infinity) his feats are already on Sukuna's and Gojo's level (mind you that was just a kick he threw there) the only reason he'd lose against Sukuna would be if Sukuna instant pops his domain but Sukuna doesn't do that he always checks the opponent first meanwhile Dabura is shown to go for killing blows on sight and for Gojo well we have no idea how he'd by pass infinity for now
