Record of Lodoss War recounts the adventures of a youth by the name of Parn, the son of a dishonored knight. Part of his motivation for adventuring is to find out what happened to his father, and to restore his family's honor. Despite his inexperience, Parn is considered the leader, who is accompanied by his childhood best friend Etoh, his friend and sometimes advisor Slayn (and later by Slayn's lover Leylia), and his newfound mentor Ghim. They are accompanied by Parn's romantic interest, the high elf Deedlit, who comes from the Forest of No Return seeking an answer to her people's isolationism and an end to what she sees as a slow march to extinction and a thief named Woodchuck. Throughout the series, Parn comes into contact with friends and foes alike. His allies include King Kashue, King Fahn, Shiris, and Orson; his enemies include Emperor Beld, Ashram, and the evil necromancer Wagnard.

There was a time when Lodoss Island was pure and the forces of light and darkness were in balance. It only took the greed of one man to change the face of Lodoss forever. Now it's up to the warriors of legend to restore the tenuous balance. This is the conflict that will decide the future of Lodoss Island! The forces of Light and Darkness are at odds, and only a rag-tag band of warriors stands between a powerful succubus and the destruction of all creation!

Two years after the sorceress Karla escapes, Parn and Deedlit continue to search for her. Meanwhile, war is brewing between two desert clans who were once one.

A long time ago, there was a tremendous war between the goddess of Creation and the goddess of Destruction, which made the earth tremble. Both goddesses perished in the war and created what people called a cursed land—Lodoss.
Something evil is happening in the land of Lodoss. Parn, a reckless young warrior, along with his new-found friends, takes on a quest to find out the source of this evil and becomes involved in the greatest epic struggle between good and evil since the war of the goddesses.

Parn, the hotheaded young fighter and the main character of the "Record of Lodoss War", always rushed into actions for the good of Lodoss and pure justice. Therefore, he always took away all the focus from the more passive main character and yet his partner, Deedlit the Elf. As in the name, "Deedlit's Tale", this is totally contributed to this beloved character. Artworks were done by Setsuko Yoneyama. This Manga adapts the novel of the same name into a two book Manga sequence. While reading this Manga, readers will find themselves feeling the heart of a young girl (one hundred and seventy years old is considered to be young for a high elf) and witnessing the romantic story of these two great heroes.
