This complex case reunites the sleuths from Ubume no Natsu and Mouryou no Hako: onmyoudou practitioner Chuuzenji, horror novelist Sekiguchi, police inspector Kiba, psychic detective Enokizu and journalist Atsuko.

The story follows a series of bizarre murders of schoolgirls who have been dismembered and stuffed into boxes. Four people -- police detective Kiba, novelist Sekiguchi, used book store owner and onmyoudou practitioner Chuuzenji and private-eye Enokizu -- are summoned via various avenues to investigate this case and its connection to the disappearance of a rich young heiress.

The four recurring characters of Kyougoku Natsuhiko's Kyougokudou novels make their reappearance in this adaptation of the second instalment of the series.

It's 1950s Tokyo, and only the Rose Cross Detective Agency dares to tackle cases the police refuse to touch. Enokizu Reijirou is an eccentric private-eye with psychic abilities, while Chuuzenji Akihiko is a surly used book store owner and part-time onmyouji with an encylopaedic knowledge of obscure supernatural trivia. Together with their associates, they seek justice for the victims of various odd crimes.
