Despite Uehara trying to be friends with her, and worrying about her in previous chapters, once Uehara is clearly into MC she starts developing feelings. Instead of developing feelings genuinely, they only kick in once she realises she could lose him. This isn't affection, this is toxic FOMO.
Uehara is just too good for this story; true to herself despite her sheltered personality and worldview. She is a shoujo manga heroine, what is she doing in this story? I can't help but wonder what her crashout will look like once she finds out the real relationships between MC and Takai.

Just binged up to chapter 38. I'd definitely recommend reading this if you're on the fence, and a bit unsure going in like I was. A dark mature story, and an enthralling read. One that I don't see very often, and I'm incredibly glad that I gave this a shot.
Glad that the author chose not to show the created world to us with exposition text, but through telling incredibly engaging stories of the characters. Especially love the side characters.
