My ex had a guy best friend similar to what mc and ayaka were. At first i was insecure but i communicated that to my ex and even met him and i even became friends with him and undestood their friendship was genuine. My ex did the same to me. I thought she was cheating on me and she didnt say anything about it but was ignoring me, we talked only twice a month at most and like that for like 4-5 months until she broke up with me. After that she aparently wasnt cheating but the damage was done. Even if the reasons she gave me for ignoring could be "valid" and wasnt cheating, you should never do that to your partner. The damage was done, all of that ignoring and stuff was really really painful. So even when she was insisting me she wanted to be back together with me for many months i rejected her all the time. Im glad this gives context on why mc is so dense with ayaka. He doesnt want to ruin the friendship even though he does like her and i bet he did fall in love with her but supressed his feelings. So now everything is on ayaka. She needs to give the step before someone else does

I will blame the MC as well. If she aint telling ayaka and the kouhai about each other is because he feels guilty and knows hes misleading them, at least to the kouhai. He is afraid to lose the attention that he gets from them. Being to greedy will be the end of him, just choose one

This same exact situation happened to me and my ex and my best female friend at a party.

Honestly i dont feel bad for ayaka anymore as she is digging her own grave. I know people do that to hide their real feelings but its her own fault in the end :(
