Its more so that space is morphing a straight line so that light goes into a direction. If you were to draw a straight line through the middle of a piece of paper then make a cylinder with that paper, the line would appear curved while remaining straight. Actual space doesn’t work in a cylinder tho, and i just learnt this like last week so I ain’t proficient in it yet and may be wrong.
