nah this doesn't really feel like a 'forced' time skip. throughout this series theres been like 3 other times where it has time skipped like 3 months or 6 months or whatever. Sure this is the highest amount of time it has ever time skipped but it makes sense considering the situation. I might be wrong though.

If you're confused about what I said, "perhaps the real _____ was the friends we made along the way" is a pretty common internet joke playing on the cliche trope of the worthless treasure. Nowadays, most people just use it for whatever when something goes wrong because it's funny. I realise I'm not explaining this too well so I'll give some examples.

For e.g.
If someone messes up a sandwich or something, you can say "perhaps the real sandwich was the friends we made along the way".

Its a pretty common joke used on the internet nowadays.
