Technically wife isn't the career path but rather housewife, and househusband does exist although it sounds like if doesn't. It's just not commonplace to be honest. Everyone wants to achieve something in a career or with wealth or achievements and fame, so being a housewife as it is, is rare nevermind the even rarer house husband.
As such it isn't weird for the rarer occupation to be not "acceptable".

I for one would love to only have to clean up the same house and look after my kids should they be home days after day. Do something that much I'd get so good at it that the amount of free time I have would just increase as it takes less and less time for me to properly clean in short time with above standard quality. Although I'd have to learn how to cook better fuck.
