The starting idea was taken that's what I think but tbh Tokyo ghoul was boring I didn't get to see interesting actions plus some characters feel like they are from shounen the ending wasn't great at all in short it felt like dragging on unnecessarily the world building of Tokyo ghoul was only limited to just Tokyo it felt way small unlike in ajin where the story took place in whole Japan
