I just don't understand how this is possible. A claymore can turn into an awakened one and instantly have unbelievable power, just where is that power coming from though? This new embodiment of destruction is so large and powerful but where did all that energy come from? Logically it doesn't make sense but maybe me trying to rationalize a fantasy work is the problem. I'd still appreciate it if they give an actual explanation for this.

Now this clears up a lot. I've been thinking for a while about how the strongest creatures and biggest threats aren't really yoma as they are easily killed by ordinary claymores, the biggest threats are the awakened ones and specifically the monsters of the abyss who were all created by the organization. The organization literally created the biggest threats to humanity themselves.

Well maybe do that after killing the giant monster that's destroying the town?
