Honestly, I get the comments saying that he should've just said it outright but that situation was so accurately done, a portrayal of what social anxiety is. If it was me back in the past I probably would've done the same.

Ive been to both situation, where either Im the most proactive or that Im the most silent. Its just a matter of who youre more comfortable with. When Im with loud and stuck up people and Im just tagging along cuz I need them for something (like a group project or something) I'll usually just stay at the back and talk as less as possible but when I'm with people who seems genuinely nice and stuff then I'll be the first to speak up even if the other person is shy and quiet.

Btw this running thing is so stupid since being fast isn't just about being born fast, I guess physique and genes plays a part but theres a technique to running too, there's also muscles that you wouldn't get to use much in everyday life but would need to run fast. We could reason it out that his ex just made him work that hard but still. This is one of the problems with this stories and with "genius" stories too, its when the author isn't a genius nor athletic attempts to create a character that's one, they mess it up for those who actually understand the amount of effort and time that you need to spend to achieve these impressive feats. Yall need to remember to never praise someone as talented, they will get offended since its like youre ignoring all the hardwork that the put behind it.
