I think its more of that he learned how to attack properly. It's still pretty realistic to me compared to other series that does this. He was just scared of his enemies that he focused on dodging more to the point that he can't see the opportunities for counter attacks. It's a mental thing. I play chess and its actually a common mistake when it comes to newbies. They get scared too much when you play aggressively to the point that all they could think of is defending their pieces instead of counter attacking. You make a huge move and they will overthink it, not realising that you made a blunder and that they could punish you for it. Im not a stranger to that feeling too. Also, the broken body thing can be explained by adrenaline. Do you remember that mother who lifted a car to save her child? Or have you seen that video of a biker getting into a crash, where he stood up immediately to look at what happened, only for him to drop down again cuz his body is actually so badly broken. Like he managed to stand and walk despite how bad his injuries.

There's a huge potential for character development so I hope the author of this manga doesn't just kill him off.
