To be fair the True Cross Exorcist are really to blame for always doing shady things under the pretense that they around to protect ppl. Its corrupted to the core and its Origin clearly expresses that. So I don't blame Yukio for not wanting anything to do with the organization and now that Satan has took over his body and he "betrayed" his brother and the Exorcist so he rather die then become a vassal or go become to being just a pawn. Now it makes sense why Mephisto didn't offer the key to Yukio, he never really wanted to know the past since he sorta knew it all along but Rin on the hand wanted nothing to do with it since he was scared of learning the truth of his birth

Clearly after what happened prior when he awoke in the clone body he had finally showed his true colors but regardless she still chose to sacrifice her self to protect the ones still held hostage. Her whole goal was to convince him to stop murdering more people and just leave but the Vatican fucked that over which caused more deaths. While Satan was a monster, in technical terms Rin and Yukio were innocent but we know how Rin turned out when he first woke up which is very tragic to learn, It only reinforced his thoughts of wishing he was never born. She however being their mother wanted to love them unconditionally. She always loved Shiro ever since they met but he always rejected and pushed her away which led to all this bs and he only really understood that till it was too late
