Last chapter wyverns were a Final boss that a bunch of rookies couldn't actually kill and now we've got the veterans taking turns trying to one shot them. I need to do something like that in a campaign. Except, y'know use something the party can actually kill because retreat is not in a gamer's vocabulary.

Well, the note did have their destination written down before they even got teleported, so unless he prepared itr beforehand using game knowledge, it seems unlikely that he would be able to analyze the target destination and write out a note like that during the activation period. So still kind of sus.

Shhhhh, don't go bringing obvious observations into things. Should they have all, or at least most, been able to get out of the magic circle by simple virtue of momentum, yes, but then we wouldn't have this moment of faux tension.
