As for the potential counter that i could think off in cases this get use against you:
1. Elbow the thigh if within reach.
2. Hit the abdomen or chest part.
3. Let your knees fall to the ground so your opponent back will fall too then proceed to counter.
4. Try to spin around then hit your opponent somewhere like a wall.

(In my opinion, In a real fight, we won't always be aiming for the head, we hit what we can reach)

Although it's cliche, it's interesting and i hope it stays that way...

Well... It's my fault i guess... I should have explain as well as to how close when i say "close the distance", the distance is between me and her is just 8-12 inches, that's how close i am aiming for... And at that distance, my aim would be her chest, since my palm always come from (right) below me which is probably hard to see if your opponent is really close to you and thinking about your motives...
