Only things that can offset the lack of height is if they pair bond before it sets in stone. Women also put status in high regards so if he makes it as a higher tier mangaka then because of her interest in this category she would maybe focus more on this aspect than his height but it most likely won't help him when her friends most likely won't validate him because he is too short by their standards (never ever underestimate how people's opinions are impacted by their peer group).

When I was in school it depended on the class and whom I was surrounded by but it wasn't overall consistent plus at that time my inexperience I was clueless that some of the girls were interested (I don't know if they were shy, intimidated, sent me signals, or were expecting me to make the move etc).
