Nice guess but no, you see the lore to lapis character is this- Firstly she wants to be powerful and not be the pitiful girl for whom a man does everything. She wants to punish ppl she don't like with her own hands and take revenge on them as well. If she does not do that she will not be satisfied, she is hungry for power and is ambitious. In the web novel her character was portrayed to use dantalion for her own ambition, she did not wanted dantalion to lose cuz it will bring her back to the bottom. But in the light novel, not only did she wanted power but also cared about dantalion and knew doing these things fucks up his mind. In the end of web novel these all things leads him to go insane and I think that is the reason why author changed the character of lapis like that.

And who said dd wn has many monologues? It has decent amount of monologues which are necessary to increase the depth of the story. And you did not say anything about RI or LOTM which has 10 times more inner monologues and still delivers. Thus having long inner monologues is not a recipe for failure. This further proves my point that you haven't read the wn and you are just saying what others usually say.
