Their way of teaching leaves a lot to be desired, some of what the elf is teaching him could have been started at 4 or 5 since you are an adult at 15 why wait until he is half grown to start to teach him those things? The way the Fairy teaches is counter productive she says one thing then says another that does not connect with the first thing in an easy to understand way. When she first told him how he came into this rift she explained it 3 times which was redundant.
