A long, heavily philosophical piece about a homeless girl who lives among the crows in an empty warehouse and a wounded yakuza who hides from his enemies with her (86 pages long)

"Because You're Definitely a Cute Girl" (きっとかわいい女の子だから)
This short story is about a girl who is into Jungian psychology, and she regrets the loss of her mother and elder sister as well as her invalid grandfather.

"For Those of Us Who Don't Believe in God" (神様なんて信じていない僕らのために)
A story about a group of college students putting on a play about a serial murderer in prison who holds a discussion with the sister of one of his victims. This story is heavy on philosophy and existential dialogue interspersed with bits of humor (Endo's typical short-story formula). This is a long story, weighing in at about 90 pages.


Volume 2:

"Hang"
A young girl asks her boyfriend to "take her to the end of the world." Here especially are overtones of EDEN--reality hangs on a silken thread.

"High School Girl 2000" (女子高生2000)
This is about Master Endo himself. He shares his midlife-crisis at 30 with us, and the situations in an artist's life back at the beginning of his mangaka career...

"Platform"
The two-parter Platform tells of Takaguki, son of a powerful yakuza clan, who hates nothing more than his father's overwhelming power and his heritage...

"Boys Don't Cry"
This one-shot talks about sexuality issues.

Plot is about a master and disciple pair of travellers that are crossing a desert/wasteland and find a remote village. At the inn, there is an array of other travellers including a warrior, a mother and son and a monk. Dried bodies, water that wards off monsters and the villager's suspicious activity begin a series of events which reveal the village's dark truth. This also sets a plot of war between races and clans further into motion between humans and vampires (not the sparkly kind, these are tribal and go around in UFO's.)

The four books contains five horror stories related to a primary school kid named Sou. Sou has an ability to foresee supernatural events in his dreams and even to make changes that will eventually happen in reality. The five stories are the Eroded Scissors, the Disappeared Rubber, the Tongue of the Spider Queen, the Black Picture-book, and Shadow Dead. Mizuno Kaori attends an all-girls high school and likes to spend time with her friends after class playing soccer. They'd like to create a club, but they're one member short of creating a team and people think it's foolish for girls to play soccer. Studying at the same high school, Umezawa Hikari is very popular among the boys but doesn't talk much. What most people don't know is that she plays soccer pretty well and dreams of becoming a national player competing in the World Cup. She then joins Kaori's group with plans to challenge a boy's soccer team from another high school. If they can defeat the boy's team, then they can let people know that they really mean business and this will also serve as a small step towards her dream.
