I actually like this twist of event. It's been too easy mode with his busted skill. And its his skill that's busted and not himself, so this progression is fair and should be predictable -- otherwise Qubi would have done it to the dark elf.
Now the matter with Qubi is hopefully written well, and not a my-hands-are-tied excuse.

I recall Ousen told the old man who takes care of Ouhon when he was a kid to get him a teacher for Spearmanship. Doesn't necessarily mean Ousen is a master of spear himself.
