This one has a good reason to be dragging written into it. Medaka's denseness is not based on stupidity, he is trying to become a monk. He has to follow the precepts of monkhood. One of those precepts is giving up worldly desires. And to a teenage boy, there is no desire more worldly than girls. So he is torn between becoming a monk or disappointing his family for some booty.
