Same, 15 chapters ago this would have excited me, but now… just feels meh, while I’m happy love has been said, the road to it was not worth it IMO.

Had to re-read the last few chapters since it’s been so long…

“Stand-up guy” What they are saying is that he’s upstanding person who is, honest, just, reliable, and trustworthy. The way it is said here has nothing to do with comedy.

It may not have a romance tag but there’s a decent bit of romance, it’s just not the main drive of the story, best example is denken’s love for his wife and that love being his drive to be a first class mage just so he could see her grave, or himmel’s love for frieren (the wedding scene is clear on that). And both fern and stark care a lot for each other, it’s easier to see in the anime since it’s subtle, but it is there, and I clearly see them together later on in a possible time skip. Sorry you can’t see it.
