To some extent is an understatement however, there's some overlap with some things that do go popular sometimes but more the most part, fandoms are very distinct and separate, I myself haven't watched anime in several years but I game and read manga heavily. Dandadan was a hit manga-wise but it definitely was not getting talked about as much as it is now that it has an anime and yet also, several gaming streamers don't know a thing about it, same with Demon Slayer, got a gaming addict homie who's never seen it and neither have I, yet its so huge.

The internet makes it seem like everyone is interested in and knows about the same thing, but when you ask someone about details over what they're posting or getting mad about in gaming or anime, they barely know anything beyond the surface level of the discussion. An example, people who defend Danzo from Naruto Shippuden just over his fight with Sasuke, meanwhile throughout the rest of the series the dude was responsible for some of the most heinous shit imaginable. Think of all the cosplayers who barely know shit about the characters they're cosplaying and the performative youtubers who claim to be gamers but BARELY play even the mainstream games they constantly try to sell you on. Sorry for my rant but yeah, the gaming fandom is completely separate from the anime fandom which is then also separate from the manga fandom. Different strokes for different folks.
