i remember why I dropped this so long ago, it isn't bad rather it's the way its constructured is the issue, the structure of this manga just doesn't gel well with the story.
basically to explain in laymans terms, the manga story is rather serious an inpending battle of life and death with the main cast worrying about if and how they'll manage to survive, then you get 30+ chapters of the same cast in a gag style romantic comedy, then you get back to the serious stuff where the main protaganist fights to the death with his brother figure, then it's back to 50+ chapters of romantic comedy without any romance rince and repeat. can you see the issue here it's using the sket dance formula in a battle shounen it's got no pace about it it's literally full speed then slamming on the brakes then full speed again, the reason why the sket dance formula worked was all the heavy hitting stuff was back story not all happening at the same time all at once, and it actually fit the pacing also the characters are completely different in each segment to sum it up it's basically "identity crisis" the manga.

it's sad since if it focused on the ACTUAL story instead of "quirky" magic in a one room formula then it would be a top tier manga
comedy:9/10 sket dance inspired shanigans i love it
romance: 1/10 at the start it started off strong then it sharply tapered off to getting literally NO progression what so ever for around 60+ chapters to the point i completely forgot it was a romance manga.
main character: 3/10 too much in one character might as well call him gary stue he's the super parent of the household & is the strongest & is hot.
characters: 5/10 half are underwhelming at best whist the other half are top notch.  
story: 3/10 sqaundered every 2 chapters of story you get around 30+ gag one room chapters.   
art:9/10 really nice looking art most of the time till they change it up for the gags which i personally kinda hate.
world building: 9/10 the lore is honestly top notch too bad it's heavily squandered.
overall rating: 5.6/10

have i finally gone mad!? it seems to have changed since i last read this, from what i remember frieren and the gang end up going the the demon kings castle discovering that the journey they have made was pointless and head back where they meet back up with Aisen & explain what has happened before he passes whist he makes ammends to his pupil or hitting him. was this manga retconned or something i'm starting to doubt my own sanity here lmfao.

also i've seemed to have broke the comments where if i press the backspace once it deletes my entire comment :( so i've now resorted to using a note pad to alter my messages before posting. what sad times we live in comrades...
