Teiichi no Kuni

Akaba Teiichi is beginning his high school career at an elite private boys' school that regularly turns out important politicians and bureaucrats. Networking starts from day one. Teiichi is determined to become the school's student council president, a position which will help launch him into the political sphere after graduation. He has so far maintained a perfect image, while always keeping the darker side of politics in mind.

He has plenty of help to reach this goal: his father, who's now a high-level bureaucrat, lost the position of student council president during his high school years: a loss which hinders his career even today, making him determined to support his son's success. Teiichi's loyal best friend and second-in-command, Koumei, helps him with strategy. Emotional support comes from his younger sister, his mother, and his lovely girlfriend Mimiko.

However, an unexpected force may yet foil his ambitions. An idealistic new teacher, Kurosaka Reiko, is adamant that she can undermine the corrupt political traditions of their school. Her first step is to push a well-liked and highly intelligent - but poor - student named Otaka Dan, who's not from the elite feeder middle school, to compete for the coveted position of student council president...
